Zombie Diaries actress joins group in southeastern Oklahoma, that is helping to get drugs out and arts in.

Oklahoma – Victoria Summer is the newest celebrity name signed on to help a local group running a grassroots campaign called Take McAlester Back in southeastern Oklahoma. The campaign is geared toward getting drugs out of the area and implementing programs for children and adults alike that feed creativity.

The singer and actress, born and raised in Berkshire, England, had exceptional talents from an early age. Victoria’s dance lessons started at 3, piano at ten, and acting at twelve. Her true love, singing, made it’s professional debut at the tender age of eleven. She received a scholarship to the prestigious Arts Educational Schools in London and found herself at the top of her class by years end.

Victoria excelled at music theatre with credits that included performances for the Queen, the World Premiere of “Brighton Rock” at the prestigious Almeida Theatre, and the musical version of the film “Alfie” to name a few.

Today, Victoria is in Los Angeles working with world class producers to create her own original music. She is also performing at places including the ‘Crustacean’ in Beverly Hills with Izzy Chait and a Celebrity Gala Event with such artists as Chaka Khan and Chick Corea. She is also working as a successful actress in Zombie Diaries.

In August 2010, Victoria Summer wrapped a starring role in the upcoming horror film, “Dracula Reborn”. Victoria plays ‘Lina Harker’, the object of Dracula’s affections in the modern tale of Dracula set in present time Los Angeles. The film, produced and directed by Ray Haboush (Executive Producer of “The Last House on the Left”), is being distributed by Halcyon International Pictures in early 2011.

“Too many people today are still falling into the trap of drugs and alcohol. As an artist myself, I’ve seen it happen too often to not take action and actually do something about it,” says Summer. “There is an artist in all of us and artists need help and encouragement; talent should be nurtured and given the ability to shine.”

Ms. Summer is an Ambassador for The Foundation of a Drug Free World, and fully supports the Take McAlester Back Campaign and it’s purpose to get drugs out and arts in.

“I am very excited to make my first trip to Oklahoma and I look forward to meeting and chatting with you all; sharing stories and music,” adds Ms. Summer. “There isn’t a better way to make a comeback from the dark depths of drugs and alcohol abuse than through the Arts. The Take Back McAlester campaign is paving the way for you and your community to join together and get creative!”

Take McAlester Back will be holding the concert at the First Christian Church in McAlester. Summer will be the featured performer singing at the event held on the 20th of November 2010 starting at 7:00 p.m. along with McAlester’s favorite violinist Michael Ginsburg and Mayor Kevin Priddle on guitar.

Take McAlester Back was founded by the McAlester Chamber, Pride In McAlester, McAlester Main Street, and Narconon Arrowhead and now has more than 30 local sponsors in the area.
